Answer
Items to check:
 
1. Reindex GoldMine files (dBase) (that is, ""Maintain Databases"" on the GoldMine ""File"" menu.
 
2. Check if there are .INF files in the contact set folder. These files indicate that someone has used Access to work with these files and built indexes which may no longer exist.
.INF files can be safely deleted, which will likely resolve this issue.

3. If neither step 1 or 2 work to eliminate this error, the dBase files may have become corrupted.  Microsoft Access has a utility for detecting and fixing corrupt dBase files.  See Access help.
